01 Information on the Collection of Personal Data

The following provides information on the collection of personal data when you use our website. Personal data refers to any data that can be linked to you personally, such as your name, address, email addresses, and user behavior.

The data controller pursuant to Article 4(7) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is SONAH GmbH, Jülicherstraße 72a c/o digitalhub Aachen e.V., Germany, TEL. +49 176 45667319, EMAIL grimm@sonah.tech (see our Legal Notice).

When you contact us via email or through a contact form, we will store the data you provide (your email address, and, if applicable, your name and phone number) in order to answer your questions and will process it solely for the purpose for which you provided the data to us. Data processing for the purpose of contacting us is carried out in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR on the basis of your voluntarily given consent. We will delete the data collected in this context once storage is no longer necessary or you have withdrawn your consent, unless we are required to store it for a longer period pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR due to tax and commercial law retention and documentation obligations (under the German Commercial Code (HGB), the German Criminal Code (StGB), or the German Fiscal Code (AO)).

If we use third-party service providers for specific functions of our service or wish to use your data for marketing purposes, we will provide detailed information below regarding the respective processes. We will also specify the criteria for the retention period.

02 Your Rights

You have the right

  • pursuant to Article 15 of the GDPR to request information about your personal data processed by us. In particular, you may request information regarding the purposes of processing, the categories of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned retention period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, or objection; the existence of a right to lodge a complaint; the origin of your data, if it was not collected by us; and the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, where applicable, meaningful information regarding its details;

  • to request, pursuant to Article 16 of the GDPR, the immediate rectification of inaccurate personal data or the completion of your personal data stored by us;

  • to request, pursuant to Article 17 of the GDPR, the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, to fulfill a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest, or to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims;

  • pursuant to Article 18 of the GDPR, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data, provided that you contest the accuracy of the data, the processing is unlawful but you oppose its erasure and we no longer need the data, but you require it to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims, or you have objected to the processing pursuant to Article 21 of the GDPR;

  • pursuant to Article 20 of the GDPR, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, or to request that it be transmitted to another controller;

  • pursuant to Article 7(3) of the GDPR, to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent prior to its withdrawal. Giving consent means that we may no longer continue the data processing that was based on that consent in the future, and

  • pursuant to Article 77 of the GDPR, to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As a rule, you may contact the supervisory authority at your usual place of residence, your place of work, or our registered office for this purpose.

If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, you have the right, pursuant to Article 21 of the GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data, provided there are grounds arising from your particular situation or the objection is directed against direct marketing. In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which we will honor without requiring you to specify a particular situation.

If you wish to exercise your right to withdraw consent or to object, simply send an email to contact@sonah.tech

  • IP address

  • Date and time of the request

  • Time zone difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

  • Access status/HTTP status code

  • Amount of data transferred in each case

If you wish to view our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to ensure its stability and security. Our legitimate interest in processing personal data is also based on the purposes mentioned above. The legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest in processing personal data is also based on the purposes mentioned above.

The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. If the data is stored in log files, this occurs after three days at the latest. Storage beyond this period is possible. In this case, users’ IP addresses will be deleted or anonymized so that the client accessing the site can no longer be identified.

In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and associated with the browser you are using, and through which certain information is transmitted to the entity that sets the cookie (in this case, us). Cookies cannot execute programs or transmit viruses to your computer. The legal basis for the use of cookies is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR or, if consent is given, Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. They serve to make the website more user-friendly and effective overall. These purposes also constitute our legitimate interest in the processing of personal data.

04 Use of Cookies

This website uses cookies for pseudonymized audience measurement, which are transmitted to the user’s browser either from our server or from a third-party server. 05 Notice Regarding Whether the Provision of Personal Data Is Required by Law or Contract

The website operator collects, uses, and discloses your personal data only if this is permitted by law or if you consent to the collection of your data.

Personal data includes all information that can be used to identify you and that can be traced back to you—for example, your name, email address, and phone number.

You may also visit this website without providing any personal information. However, to improve our online services, we store (in an anonymous form) your access data for this website. This access data includes, for example, the file you requested or the name of your Internet service provider. Because the data is anonymized, it is not possible to identify you personally.

When you use the contact form, this website processes personal data such as first name, last name, IP address, email address, and the information provided in the contact form. We process personal data only with the express consent of the users concerned and in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.

06 Disclosure of Data

Your personal data will not be transferred to third parties for purposes other than those listed here. We will only disclose your personal data to third parties if

  • you have given your explicit consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR,

  • the disclosure is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR to assert,

  • exercise, or defense of legal claims, and there is no reason to believe that you have an overriding legitimate interest in the non-disclosure of your data,

  • in the event that there is a legal obligation to disclose your data pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR, as well as

  • this is permitted by law and necessary under Article 6(1), sentence 1, subparagraph (b) of the GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships with you.

07 Duration for Which Personal Data Is Stored

The duration of storage of personal data is determined by the applicable statutory retention period. Upon expiration of this period, the relevant data will be deleted, provided it is no longer necessary for the performance or initiation of a contract.

08 Automated Decision-Making

There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

09 Contact Form

If you contact us via our contact form, the information you provide in the inquiry form—including the contact details you enter there—will be stored by us for the purpose of processing your inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We will not disclose this data to third parties without your consent.

The processing of the data entered into the contact form is therefore based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may revoke this consent at any time. To do so, simply send us an informal email. The lawfulness of the data processing operations carried out prior to revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request that we delete it, revoke your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g., after your inquiry has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions—in particular retention periods—remain unaffected.

10 Use of Google Analytics

Based on our legitimate interests in optimizing and analyzing our online offering within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, this website uses the “Google Analytics” service, which is provided by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The service (Google Analytics) uses “cookies”—text files that are stored on your device. The information collected by the cookies is generally sent to a Google server in the United States and stored there.

Google LLC complies with European data protection law and is certified under the Privacy Shield Framework: https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active

IP anonymization is enabled on this website. Users’ IP addresses are truncated within the member states of the EU and the European Economic Area, as well as in other signatory states to the agreement. Only in rare cases is the IP address first transmitted in full to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. This truncation ensures that your IP address cannot be used to identify you personally. The user’s IP address transmitted by the browser is not combined with other data stored by Google.

Under the data processing agreement that we, as the website operator, have entered into with Google Inc., Google uses the collected information to analyze website usage and activity and to provide services related to internet usage.

The data collected by Google on our behalf is used to analyze how individual users interact with our online services—for example, to generate reports on website activity—in order to improve our online services.

You can prevent cookies from being stored on your device by adjusting the settings in your browser. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to access all features of this website without restrictions if your browser does not allow cookies.

Furthermore, you can use a browser plugin to prevent the information collected by cookies (including your IP address) from being sent to Google Inc. and used by Google Inc. The following link will take you to the corresponding plugin: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

Alternatively, by clicking this link (IMPORTANT: Insert opt-out link), you can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about you on this website. Clicking the link above will download an “opt-out cookie.” Your browser must therefore generally allow the storage of cookies for this purpose. If you delete your cookies regularly, you will need to click the link again each time you visit this website.
